How to Get Dewa/Electricity Connection in Dubai

It is not as tough as it seems. Just follow the procedures step by step to receive an electricity connection as fast as possible.

Online Procedure

Step 1 : Online Application Submission 

Fill-in the online application form with required information. Attach required documents and submit the application. Mandatory required attachments are:

  • Tenancy Agreement
  • Passport with Valid Visa Page/Trade License
  • You will be required to pay Security Deposit online using ePay.

 Step 2 : Service Delivery

Supply is activated within 24hrs of Registration and payment of Security Deposit. Once the technical documents are approved, A notification will be sent through SMS or email, DEWA estimate will be issued to the customer and notification for further coordination for technical inspection requirements, etc., up to release of power/water connection will be sent through the web

Offline Procedure

Step 1 : Collect Application

A customer should collect application for DEWA Services.

Step 2 : Submit Application

Submit the completed application form with required attachments. Mandatory required attachments are:

  • Tenancy Agreement
  • Passport with Valid Visa Page/Trade License

Step 3 : Deposit Payment

Pay the Security Deposit at the Payment Counter and collect the Security Deposit Receipt.

  • Application for Security Deposit Payment/Change of Address
  • Application for Security Deposit Payment/Change of Address (UAE National Consumers)

Customer shall fill the details, given in the application as applicable, and upload the technical documents and details as listed in the application. The documents will be technically reviewed for approval and preparation of DEWA Estimate / Connection Charges and processed further for field inspection, etc.

Fees: 

Application for service is free of charge. Service is chargeable (where applicable).

Delivery Duration:

LV Design Approval:

  • Load 1150 kw: 1 Working day
  • Load 1513000 kw: 7 Working days
  • Load 30015000 kw: 12 Working days
  • Load 5001 and above: 17 Working days

Issuance of Connection Cost:

  • Load 1 to 150 Kw: 1 Working day
  • Load 151 to 400 Kw: 5 Working days
  • Load above 400 Kw: 9 Working days

LV Inspection:

  • Load 1 – 150 Kw: 2 working days from the readiness date identified by the electrical contractor
  • Load above 150 Kw: 3 working days from the readiness date identified by the electrical contractor

HV Substation Location & size Approval (If any)

  • 4 working days

HV Substation Inspection (If any)

  • 2 working days from the readiness date identified by the electrical contractor

Mandatory Documents for Electricity Connection:

  • Total Connected load/Max. Demand schedule (.pdf Format)
  • MDBs/SMDBs Schedules (.pdf Format only )
  • Single Line Diagram with proposed LV distribution and tariff metering (.dwf Format)
  • Site setting lay-out and ground floor plan indicating location of substation, LV room (along with dimensional details of LV room, arrangements of LV Panels, MDBs, KW  meters etc.) (.dwf Format)
  • Ground floor and/or typical floor plan indicating location of Electrical rooms/MDBs/SMDBs etc. (.dwf Format)
  • General arrangements of KWh meters in ground and/or typical floor electrical rooms (.dwf Format)
  • Typical Load distribution schedule for final distribution board (.pdf Format )
  • Affection Plan+Passport copy/Trade License copy (.pdf Format)

Optional Documents for Electricity Connection:

  • Green Building Regulation implementation documents ( .pdf Format only)
  • Technical specification of Chiller/Motor loads and other documents (.pdf Format )
  • Premise details sheet ( .xls/.doc Format )
  • Material requirements details ( .xls/.doc Format)
  • Consultant confirmation letter(No wet area, above electrical room/DBs, Circuit breaker/circuit cables, UV relays, ELCBs etc) in DEWA’s prescribed format (.pdf Format)

Application Status Tracking and Notifications

Customer will receive SMS and e-mail notifications regarding the progress of the application (submission, revision, approval, etc.) In addition to notifications, the status of the application can also be tracked online through the tracking page of the e-service.
