The Expo 2020 is one of the most awaited events in the history of Dubai. On 27 November 2013, when Dubai won the right to host the expo 2020, a national holiday was declared and cry of celebrations broke throughout the city. The main site of function is a 438-hectare area (1083 acres) located midway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. THE BID
İzmir-Turkey, Yekaterinburg- Russia, São Paulo- Brazil along with Dubai, United Arab Emirates have initiated the bid for hosting the Expo 2020 which was won by Dubai amidst great festivity by families and youngsters from all nationalities cheering in unison as the announcement was made.
THEME
The theme for the Expo 2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” with sub-themes being Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity. It will be the first to be held in the MENA & SA (Middle East and North Africa & South Asia) region. It acknowledges in producing prolonged solutions to global problems, challenges and partnerships across cultures, nations and regions.

Dubai Expo 2020 Logo
Symbolising the energy of human connections, spur of progress and celebration of ingenuity, the logo being a series of gold rings is actually an inspiration from the pages of history.
The insight for the logo came from a golden ring, an artefact which was discovered from the archaeological site of Saroug Al Hadeed. The ring itself is made of pure gold and has small artistic designs around it.
SITE
The Expo 2020 will run from October 2020 to April 2021 and is expected to attract 25 million visitors to the site near Jebel Ali.
The exhibition area, trade proceedings, events and entertainment will come together to create an extraordinary experience across an area of two square kilometres. At the heart of this Expo site is the Al Wasl plaza, the connection point. This immense plot has been created to invite people to connect and form new partnerships. Laid out from this centre will be three ‘souk’ areas, entirely focussed on the sub themes mentioned earlier.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The Expo 2020 is said to generate a massive surge of job opportunities. Areas such as technology, commerce, architecture and construction welcomes skilled and proficient individuals from all around the globe.
About 277,000 jobs with 85,000 positions would be created across regional economy. This will definitely boost up the economy and bring in people to form a collaborative and concerted working environment.
EVENTS
Expo 2020 Dubai, has collaborated its ties with Wamda, to launch the Collateral Entrepreneurship Summit, which gathered more than 400 representatives from multinationals, corporations and start-ups. At the Expo 2020 Dubai International Planning Meeting (IPM), more than 370 senior representatives from around the world were presented with the organisers’ vision of an event that is a festival of human ingenuity.
