Sheikh Mohammed Invites Young Emiratis to Join UAE’s Astronaut Programme

Vice-president and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given all the young Emiratis a chance to be a part of history that will created by The UAE. Sheikh Mohammad has invited Emiratis to register for the first batch of The UAE’s astronaut programme.

Sharing a tweet, which would create a history, Sheikh Mohammed wrote, “Our ambitious goals are fueled by dedicated people, who support us until, without hesitation or skepticism, we succeed. I invite young Emiratis to register for the UAE Astronaut Programme through the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre at mbrsc.ae/astronauts.  The most competitive applicants will be selected to be ambassadors for the UAE in space exploration. However, every single Emirati will contribute in his or her own way to the future of the UAE, whether it’s on land, or in the skies.”

ASTRONAUT REQUIREMENTS

Any Emirati with a minimum age of 18 and a University Graduate bachelor’s or higher degree can apply for the astronaut application program. He/she also should be fit and in good health to ensure, they are able to fly to space. This does not mean they are looking for Olympic athletes, but mobility and some strength is required. In addition, candidates should also be able to demonstrate that they have the personality to be able to work as part of a team, not only as a team member at MBRSC, but also alongside the astronauts on board the space station. Finally, they should be capable of carrying out the missions and experiments required while they are the UAE’s representative in space.
